Christmas Story - Christmas Day Readings

Christmas Story

Christmas Day Readings

Luke 1:26-29
[26] Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, [27] to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of David’s house. The virgin’s name was Mary. [28] Having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, you highly favored one! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!” [29] But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of salutation this might be.

Luke 1:30-33
[30] The angel said to her, “Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. [31] Behold, you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and shall name him ‘Jesus.’ [32] He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, [33] and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom.”

Luke 1:34-38
[34] Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?” [35] The angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God. [36] Behold, Elizabeth your relative also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. [37] For nothing spoken by God is impossible.” [38] Mary said, “Behold, the servant of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.

Luke 2:1-7
[1] Now in those days, a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled. [2] This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria. [3] All went to enroll themselves, everyone to his own city. [4] Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to David’s city, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, [5] to enroll himself with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him as wife, being pregnant. [6] While they were there, the day had come for her to give birth. [7] She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Luke 2:8-14
[8] There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock. [9] Behold, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. [10] The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people. [11] For there is born to you today, in David’s city, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. [12] This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough.” [13] Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God and saying, [14] “Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will toward men.”

Luke 2:15-20
[15] When the angels went away from them into the sky, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem, now, and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” [16] They came with haste and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby was lying in the feeding trough. [17] When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying which was spoken to them about this child. [18] All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds. [19] But Mary kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart. [20] The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.

Matthew 2:1-6
[1] Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, [2] “Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him.” [3] When King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. [4] Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Christ would be born. [5] They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is written through the prophet, [6] ‘You Bethlehem, land of Judah, are in no way least among the princes of Judah; for out of you shall come a governor who shall shepherd my people, Israel.’”

Matthew 2:7-12
[7] Then Herod secretly called the wise men, and learned from them exactly what time the star appeared. [8] He sent them to Bethlehem, and said, “Go and search diligently for the young child. When you have found him, bring me word, so that I also may come and worship him.” [9] They, having heard the king, went their way; and behold, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them until it came and stood over where the young child was. [10] When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. [11] They came into the house and saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Opening their treasures, they offered to him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. [12] Being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went back to their own country another way.

Matthew 2:13-18
[13] Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.” [14] He arose and took the young child and his mother by night and departed into Egypt, [15] and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called my son.” [16] Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the wise men. [17] Then that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying, [18] “A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; she wouldn’t be comforted, because they are no more.”

Samba - Xubuntu 18.04

SAMBA

Documentation

  1. Xubuntu 18.04 Documentation
  2. Ubuntu 18.04 - Ubuntu Desktop Guide
  3. Samba - Ubuntu 18.04
Websites - Installation & Setup instructions

STEPS

Install Samba
$ sudo apt-get install samba

Check installation success
$ whereis samba
Output should be: samba: /usr/sbin/samba /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/samba /etc/samba /usr/share/samba /usr/share/man/man7/samba.7.gz /usr/share/man/man8/samba.8.gz
Create a directory to share
We will name the directory sambashare
We will place it in the /srv file system directory (as rumor has it, that the /srv directory is for server stuff, such as samba.
Change the permissions of the /srv directory so that you can work in it.
$ mkdir /srv/sambashare/
Edit the Samba config file to add the sambashare directory to Samba so it will be shared
$ sudo nano /etc/samba/smb.conf
This will open the config file in the terminal as an editable file.
You will be able to save your changes to it.
Scroll to the bottom of the config file and add the following lines:
[sambashare]
  comment = Samba on Xubuntu
  path = /srv/sambashare
  browsable = yes
  guest ok = yes
  read only = yes
  create mask = 0755
Save your config file before exiting.

Restart Samba
$ sudo service smbd restart

Open the Firewall to Samba traffic
It is important to open the server firewall to Samba traffic.
With UFW this is done by the command:
$ sudo ufw enable samba
This was a major roadblock to getting Samba to work on our home network.

Permissions to Access Sambashare
You can create Samba user accounts, or you can allow guest access. I left guest access, which is less secure depending on the environment.

Configure files in the /sambashare directory
I made myself the owner of everything starting with the /srv directory and recursively
I used the chmod 755 for /srv and for /srv/sambashare
Starting with the /sambashare directory, I made nogroup the other user (but I didn't use this recursively, and things worked fine).
All folders and files below sambashare use chmod 775 and have me as user and other.
I used the fstab file to add my music and audio folders to the /sambashare directory. (Note, it is possible to mount the same directly via fstab in more than one place.)

The Christmas Story as recorded in the Bible

SCENE 1: An angel announces the coming birth of John the Baptist to Zacharias (Luke 1:1-25)
[Setting: Temple in Jerusalem]

Narrator:
There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the priestly division of Abijah. He had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord. But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they both were well advanced in years.

Now it happened, while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his division, according to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense. The whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense. An angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. Zacharias was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said to him,

Angel:
“Don’t be afraid, Zacharias, because your request has been heard, and your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. You will have joy and gladness; and many will rejoice at his birth. For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he will drink no wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord, their God. He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to prepare a people prepared for the Lord.”

Narrator:
Zacharias said to the angel,

Zacharias:
“How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.”

Narrator:
The angel answered him,

Angel:
“I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God. I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news. Behold, you will be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things will happen, because you didn’t believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.”

Narrator:
The people were waiting for Zacharias, and they marveled that he delayed in the temple. When he came out, he could not speak to them, and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple. He continued making signs to them, and remained mute.

It happened, when the days of his service were fulfilled, he departed to his house. After these days Elizabeth, his wife, conceived, and she hid herself five months, saying,

Elizabeth:
“Thus has the Lord done to me in the days in which he looked at me, to take away my reproach among men.”

SCENE 2: An angel announces to Mary the coming birth of Jesus (Luke 1:26-38)
[Setting: Home of Mary]

Narrator:
Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. Having come in, the angel said to her,

Angel:
“Rejoice, you highly favored one! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!”

Narrator:
But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of salutation this might be. The angel said to her,

Angel:
“Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and will call his name ‘Jesus.’ He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom.”

Narrator:
Mary said to the angel,

Mary:
“How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?”

Narrator:
The angel answered her,

Angel:
“The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God. Behold, Elizabeth, your relative, also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For everything spoken by God is possible.”

Narrator:
Mary said,

Mary:
“Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it to me according to your word.”

Narrator:
The angel departed from her.

SCENE 3: Mary visits Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-56)
[Setting: Hill country of Judah – home of Zacharias and Elizabeth]

Narrator:
Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah, and entered into the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. It happened, when Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, that the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She called out with a loud voice, and said,

Elizabeth:
“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy! Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord!”

Narrator:
Mary said,

Mary:
“My soul magnifies the Lord.
My spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior,
for he has looked at the humble state of his handmaid.
For behold, from now on, all generations will call me blessed.
For he who is mighty has done great things for me.
Holy is his name.
His mercy is for generations of generations on those who fear him.
He has shown strength with his arm.
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down princes from their thrones.
And has exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things.
He has sent the rich away empty.
He has given help to Israel, his servant, that he might remember mercy,
As he spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and his seed forever.”

Narrator:
Mary stayed with her about three months, and then returned to her house.

SCENE 4: Birth of John the Baptist (Luke 1:57-80)
[Setting: Hill country of Judah – home of Zacharias and Elizabeth]

Narrator:
Now the time that Elizabeth should give birth was fulfilled, and she brought forth a son. Her neighbors and her relatives heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her, and they rejoiced with her. It happened on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zacharias, after the name of the father. His mother answered,

Elizabeth:
“Not so; but he will be called John.”

Narrator:
They said to her,

People:
“There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name.”

Narrator:
They made signs to his father, what he would have him called. He asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, “His name is John.” They all marveled. His mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue freed, and he spoke, blessing God. Fear came on all who lived around them, and all these sayings were talked about throughout all the hill country of Judea. All who heard them laid them up in their heart, saying,

People:
“What then will this child be?”

Narrator:
The hand of the Lord was with him. His father, Zacharias, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,

Zacharias:
“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
for he has visited and worked redemption for his people;
and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David
(as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets who have been from of old),
salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us;
to show mercy towards our fathers,
to remember his holy covenant,
the oath which he spoke to Abraham, our father,
to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies,
should serve him without fear,
In holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.
And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High,
for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways,
to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the remission of their sins,
because of the tender mercy of our God,
whereby the dawn from on high will visit us,
to shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death;
to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

Narrator:
The child was growing, and becoming strong in spirit, and was in the desert until the day of his public appearance to Israel.

SCENE 5: An angel speaks to Joseph about Mary and the birth of Jesus (Matthew 1:18-25)
[Setting: Home of Joseph]

Narrator:
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was like this; for after his mother, Mary, was engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, intended to put her away secretly. But when he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying,

Angel:
“Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take to yourself Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. She shall bring forth a son. You shall call his name Jesus, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins.”

Narrator:
Now all this has happened, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,

God’s Word in the Law and the Prophets:
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child,
and shall bring forth a son.
They shall call his name Immanuel;”
which is, being interpreted, “God with us.”

Narrator:
Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took his wife to himself; and didn’t know her until she had brought forth her firstborn son. He named him Jesus.

SCENE 6: Birth of Jesus (Luke 2:1-7)
[Setting: Stable in Bethlehem]

Narrator:
Now it happened in those days, that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled. This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria. All went to enroll themselves, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David; to enroll himself with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him as wife, being pregnant.

It happened, while they were there, that the day had come that she should give birth. She brought forth her firstborn son, and she wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.

SCENE 7: Angels announce the birth of Jesus to shepherds (Luke 2:8-20)
[Setting: Fields of Bethlehem; Stable in Bethlehem]

Narrator:
There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock. Behold, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. The angel said to them,

Angel:
“Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people. For there is born to you, this day, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough.”

Narrator:
Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God, and saying,

Host of Angels:
“Glory to God in the highest,
on earth peace, good will toward men.”

Narrator:
It happened, when the angels went away from them into the sky, that the shepherds said one to another,

Shepherds:
“Let’s go to Bethlehem, now, and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”

Narrator:
They came with haste, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby was lying in the feeding trough. When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying which was spoken to them about this child. All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.

SCENE 8: Jesus is circumcised at eight days old (Luke 2:21)
[Setting: Bethlehem]

Narrator:
When eight days were fulfilled for the circumcision of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

SCENE 9: Joseph and Mary take Jesus to the Temple when he is about 40 days old (Luke 2:22-38)
[Setting: Temple in Jerusalem]

Narrator:
When the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the law of the Lord,

God’s Word in the Law and the Prophets:
“Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”),

Narrator:
and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord,

God’s Word in the Law and the Prophets:
“A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”

Narrator:
Behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. He came in the Spirit into the temple. When the parents brought in the child, Jesus, that they might do concerning him according to the custom of the law, then he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,

Simeon:
“Now you are releasing your servant, Master,
according to your word, in peace;
for my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared before the face of all peoples;
a light for revelation to the nations,
and the glory of your people Israel.”

Narrator:
Joseph and his mother were marveling at the things which were spoken concerning him, and Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, his mother,

Simeon:
“Behold, this child is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which is spoken against. Yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

Narrator:
There was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher (she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity, and she had been a widow for about eighty-four years), who didn’t depart from the temple, worshipping with fastings and petitions night and day. Coming up at that very hour, she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of him to all those who were looking for redemption in Jerusalem.

SCENE 10: Wise men from the east (Matthew 2:1-12)
[Setting: Jerusalem and Bethlehem]

Narrator:
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,

Wise Men:
“Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him.”

Narrator:
When King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Christ would be born. They said to him,

Chief Priests and Scribes:
“In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is written through the prophet,
‘You Bethlehem, land of Judah,
are in no way least among the princes of Judah:
for out of you shall come forth a governor,
who shall shepherd my people, Israel.’”

Narrator:
Then Herod secretly called the wise men, and learned from them exactly what time the star appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem, and said,

Herod:
“Go and search diligently for the young child. When you have found him, bring me word, so that I also may come and worship him.”

Narrator:
They, having heard the king, went their way; and behold, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, until it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. They came into the house and saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Opening their treasures, they offered to him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Being warned in a dream that they shouldn’t return to Herod, they went back to their own country another way.

SCENE 11: Herod seeks to kill Jesus, and the flight to Egypt (Matthew 2:13-18)
[Setting: Bethlehem]

Narrator:
Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying,

Angel:
“Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”

Narrator:
He arose and took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt, and was there until the death of Herod; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,

God’s Word in the Law and the Prophets:
“Out of Egypt I called my son.”

Narrator:
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out, and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the wise men. Then that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,

God’s Word in the Law and the Prophets:
“A voice was heard in Ramah,
lamentation, weeping and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children;
she wouldn’t be comforted,
because they are no more.”

SCENE 12: Joseph and Mary return with Jesus from Egypt (Matthew 2:19-23)
[Setting: Egypt and Roads to Israel]

Narrator:
But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying,

Angel:
“Arise and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel, for those who sought the young child’s life are dead.”

Narrator:
He arose and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in the place of his father, Herod, he was afraid to go there. Being warned in a dream, he withdrew into the region of Galilee, and came and lived in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets:

God’s Word in the Law and the Prophets:
“He will be called a Nazarene.”

SCENE 13: Conclusion in Nazareth (Luke 2:39-40)
[Setting: Nazareth]

Narrator:
When they had accomplished all things that were according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth. The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.

ESNG (AI-Edition) - The solution to a quandary

To all devoted readers of the ESNG (AI-Edition),

The thoroughly investigative reporters of the ESNG (AI-Edition), in interviewing the illustrious warehouse manager (who else could it be but the Brian, king-of-all-things-Brian), were presented with the following quandary:

"The problems always occur on days that end in y."

Word of this matter reached the ears of the editor in chief of the ESNG (AI-Edition). After looking up the definition and spelling of the word "quandary" he took this matter home to his children, with whom commenced a decidedly in-depth discussion on this quirky quandary.

The result of said conversation was this conclusion:

  1. Monday and Friday end in y. Wait, all the days of the week end in y. However, in German and in Spanish, the days of the week do not end in y. Therefore, the first plan of action in solving this matter is to carry on all warehouse activities in a foreign language in which the days of the week do not end in y.
  2. If the first plan of action does not result in an obvious and full solution, then that leads us to conclude that a rose by any other name is still a rose. ie. It doesn't matter what they end in, the days of the week at fault are always faulty and will remain faulty whether or not they end in y. Thus the second plan of action is to remove the faulty days of the week. On what days do the problems occur? Remove those days from the equation. Problem solved.
  3. If the second plan of action does not lead to a problem-free path, then it is possible that the lone voice belonging to one of the children on the other side of the table was right when he attempted to interject that people are the problem and not the days of the week or the letter in which they end. Of course this line of thinking is absurd from beginning to end and I only include as a source of levity in the midst of such a serious and trying concern.

The editors, writers and reporters of the ESNG (AI-Edition) do look forward to the implementation of the above plans of action (particularly the first one) and the ensuing interviews of people experiencing problem-free weeks in problem-free workplaces.

If you have read this far, then thank you once again for being a devoted and committed reader of the ESNG (AI-Edition).

ESNG (AI-Edition) - A Parable

Dear Readers of the ESNG (AI-Edition),

As the editor of such a fine publication read by such fine people, I search high and low for fine stories that will benefit the fine palates of such fine readers. Such stories are especially prized when they speak to current situations.

What a surprise it was to myself when I realized that one such story was a simple narrative from my own experiences from years of yore.

As a child,

I had a neighbor whose name was Truman. I called him Tru for short.

He was a wasp.

Tru was not very nice. He often stung me.

We grew up and went our separate ways.

Years later I met a winged insect who claimed to be my old neighbor Tru.

I wasn't sure if it was him.

This insect was too nice. He didn't once sting me during our conversation.

Finally, he confessed that he wasn't my old neighbor and wasn't even a wasp.

He was actually a honey bee.

Moral: If it sounds too good to be Tru, it must bee.

ESNG (AI-Edition) - Merry Christmas

To the holiday readers of the ESNG (AI-Edition),

I’ll keep it short. This afternoon, I saw a real life reindeer in the Novi warehouse. The intrepid reporters of the ESNG were, of course, able to document this Aaah-mazing occurrence. While readers of other gazettes might question such a sighting, and wonder at the lack of fur on the reindeer in question (particularly on its head), the faithful and knowledgeable readers of the ESNG (AI-Edition) have no problem calling a reindeer a reindeer.

As I said, I’ll keep this short. Here is the reindeer:

Merry Christmas from all your favorite staff of the ESNG.

Signing off,

ESNG (AI-Edition) - Justin the Brave and his battle wound

August 30, 2017

To all Faithful Readers of Our Faithfully Researched Stories,

This morning, heading to my desk in the warehouse, I saw a bandage on Justin’s finger. He relayed to me the events surrounding the appearance of the bandage on his finger and the five stitches said bandage concealed. Being the type of newsworthy news we aim to present to our newsworthy-news-hungry readers, the story is now presented to you.

Yesterday, Justin the Brave was out with his fellow soldier Mel the Valiant. They were fighting the evil foes of the fast, friendly, and amazing King Applied Imaging.

During the course of their soldiering, Justin the Brave, with a heart of compassion, began to help a lowly MP305 (a small copy machine). Unknown to our mighty soldiers, this MP305 was actually one of the slothfully dangerous servants of the evil tyrant prince, Tardiness. Pulling out a hidden blade, the evil MP305 cut deeply into the finger of Justin the Brave. In one united fast and amazing move (though perhaps not so friendly), Mel the Valiant and Justin the Brave quickly finished off the dastardly MP305.

Justin the Brave was now bleeding badly from the cruel cut in his finger. Mel the Valiant helped Justin (tB) onto his trusty steed, and together they set off for a healer of wounds. How fortunate they were. In a short time they discovered the lovely nurse Concentra, who safely sewed up Justin’s (tB) wound. Five stitches closed up the reminder of their recent battle.

In spite of his wound and the cruel betrayal of someone he was trying to help, Justin the Brave is still a “Cut above the rest.”

I hope this story has left you in stitches.

(Can you hear us laughing?)
